Your Rights as a Mother

You may not be aware of this, but you have the right to keep your baby and not have to struggle in dire poverty. Out nation promised this to all its citizens in 1948 when it signed The Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

" ARTICLE 25:

" (1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living ADEQUATE FOR THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING of himself and of his FAMILY, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

" (2) Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection."

We believe that our nation should keep its promise of 1948. Social assistance should be available to all families who need it, to ensure that poverty is never a reason for a mother to be separated from her child, for her to be able to afford all necessities that child may need.

Other "civilized" nations realize this, why not ours?

Government-enforced poverty is financial coercion when it forces a mother to surrender her baby for adoption. It is unecessary, cruel, and inhumane to both mother and baby.
